Heat Therapy Bag Covers... In Progress...

Christmas gifts in progress... thought I would give a sneak-peek!

Embellished Burp Cloth

Embellished Burp Cloth, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

For a friend. I had a lot of fun with this. Camden uses these burp cloths still... as a cuddle rag. I didn't embellish his... and he refuses to use anything but the soft white cloth. I wish I would have taken the time to embellish his, though, they are so cute. :)

Mermaid Print

I am so excited because I just ordered another print from French Toast Girl. It will go in my bathroom, that is painted a mermaid-tail aqua color, and I'm soo super excited about it! :0)

Haiku Monday

Well... it is Haiku Monday on the CMP Yahoo group... and I emailed Joe to tell him to write a Haiku... and he had his co-worker Jeff in his office writing Haiku at lunch break too! So... here are our Haiku for today!
Mine... sent to Joe
A wonderful man
Father husband and my friend
My love for you grows
Joe's... sent to me
A love that is true.
Without you, what would I do?
Wander aimlessly.
And... Jeff's... Joe's co-worker :)
Happy Thanksgiving.
Well, not for the turkey.* *not 7 syllables!!!! (as an English teacher I must point this out!)
Please pass the stuffing.
Hope you all enjoyed! If you want to play along, post a comment or write haiku on your blog. A Haiku is a poem that is three lines, the first line containing five syllables. The second line containing seven syllables. The third line containing five syllables. Have fun!

Posting from the Road

Well... we have successfully been to Joe's family for thanksgiving, made half of thanksgiving dinner, enjoyed a lovely thanksgiving with them-- and then moved on to spend the latter part of the weekend with my family--... at the family reunion.

We ventured out on our trip this morning at 10am, factoring in the time-change... we were set to arrive at 3:00... and we DIDN'T take into account that Joe's Nana would ask him to help out with the Christmas decorations. And we didn't take into account that Joe's family lives near the mall, and of course, it was black friday--- and so... we were late. We were planning on getting our car serviced while we were here, since there is a dealership here in the same town as our family reunion... and we arrived at the Lexus dealership and had to leave... because Camden was throwing the biggest fit EVER ... which caused ME and JOE to get all uptight... and argumentative... and frustrated... and so, we left, and rescheduled for the morning, when Joe will go by himself to get the car serviced.

Camden did NOT have his nap, even though we were in the car for FIVE HOURS... he decided to fall asleep FIVE MINUTES before we got to the hotel.

We are now in the hotel. We stay on the "food floor"... the executive suite that has a little kitchen that is always stocked with coke products, juice, milk, fruit, coffee, tea, and BEN AND JERRYS!!!!!!! Yes... we are in heaven... after our car-trip from HELL. :) I will be taking some photos tomorrow. :)

Hope everyone is having a LOVELY Thanksgiving!

Pattern Give-Away

Ok... in the spirit of giving, I'd like to give a sewing pattern (or two) to two lucky winners. This time, you must do a little something to get your patterns! First, tell me what you would like to make, and sizing, style, etc. THEN, I need your help! I am giving a lot of handmade bags away for the holidays... many are going to be personally made for specific people. Tell me what I should "stuff" them with... because no one wants an empty bag! :) I will award sewing patterns to those ideas that I like the BEST :)! ...and if you are not a sew-er, but want to still give me your ideas on what to stuff my tote bags with... you are welcome to! ...and we are getting ready to go see family! :) Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!
______________Edited Later____________________
Omly asked if they were all going to women... and the answer is yes, at least for this time around! I do have plans for bags for men, but at a later time. :)

Gift-Away Update!

Thanks to all who entered! MARIA is the winner! :) Camden drew her name and then took off around the corner with the post it note in his mouth... so I had to pry it out of his mouth, and through the slobber could still read the name... 'maria'. Congrats! Thanks to everyone...and we'll do another give-away sometime soon. :)

The Tree is Up!

So... although I don't want to spoil gifts for anyone, I'm using this as sort of a planner. I have written out gift lists and keep losing them. I'm sure to not lose them here. I will use initials to protect the innocent. :) --and notice I'm not buying/making for my husband. We are getting each other a new FRIDGE for Christmas :) How romantic, huh!? LOL! ;) I'm happy though because ours does not have an ice maker or much space! :) I'm thinking a side-by-side stainless ;)!

Ok... here goes for the list o' things to buy/make:

Christmas Pillows!

ChristmasDecor 029, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Tonight, I whipped up these Christmas pillows! :)

Tiki's Christmas Outfit

Tiki's Christmas Outfit, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Christmas outfit for Joe's Mom's dog, Tiki. She is NOT a weiner dog, but this is the only dog I could get out of Camden's room for modeling purposes. She will look MUCH cuter in it! :) :) :)

Story Time Cushions for Camden's Classroom

This isn't a very exiting photo... but I post it because I have a story behind these cushions.

Camden got into a FIGHT at school on Friday. The little girl literally kicked the crap out of my little tough man~! She scratched him behind the ear, on the neck, and on the hand. He looked like he had gotten into a battle with a cheetah! So... I asked the teacher what on earth were they fighting about?! She replied: Well, we only have two storytime cushions and they both wanted the blue one. Hmmmm... Shouldn't ALL of the kids have their very OWN cushion for storytime? Yes. They. Should. So! I made THREE cushions this weekend.
(The pink is not shown, as my sewing machine was acting up by the time I got to that one... and I stopped for a bit, but will sew up the hole soon, so they will be ready for delivery by Daddy on Monday.)

I have some cool SpongeBob fabric and I plan to make smaller ones for the children if the teacher likes the large ones.... :) We will see! :)

Trying to decide which pattern to make!

Who knew there were this many patterns to choose from for DOGS?! We don't have dogs, but there are a lot of dogs in our family...and family members who adore their dogs. :)

Elf Stocking Ornament

Stocking Ornament, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

We are making fifteen handmade ornaments to take to the mountains this year for our Christmas Vacation... and a few to hand out as gifts. This was my first to kick off the ornament-making frenzy.

Wine Bag

Just perfect for those holiday parties... and those "anytime" parties! :) Made this one for a friend for Christmas.

Apron for Apron Swap!

Apron for Apron Swap!, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Here's the apron that I made for 'down-to-earth's' apron swap! It's going to 'unless the lord' who says her favorite color is red, but loves things that are a bit 'different', and this apron certainly is. :) I hope she enjoys it. ;)

Running Team~!

1. Kacy has joined me in my quest to run-- and she has asked her neighborhood friend Katrina.

2. Burb-Mama, aka Average Jane Crafter has been doing this and is already on week two!

3. Anyone else joining me? :)

No picture.

No picture for you today. I've lost my camera charger, dang-it! ... Can't find it anywhere ... and haven't had the time to REALLY LOOK, either. My house is clean, which is strange for a Wednesday-- this is the day that it usually begins going downhill for the weekend. But, it has stayed pretty clean. I thank Chili's for that, as Joe had two back-to-back games last night so Camden and I met my sisters at Chili's-- where we had the NICEST SWEETEST little southern waitress. She was just SO NICE-- and funny, too. We left her a nice tip. It was because of that one night out, though, that I'm sure my house has stayed clean. That, and I've had more energy.

More energy? Yes! Why? Because! I started RUNNING! ... sounds crazy if you're not an exercise kind of person... but really, I started Monday night. Tuesday night, I had 'off', and tonight, Joe had a game at 7.45, so I had to hurry and clean up the kitchen so I could get my run in before he left for his game. Nice. I'm so happy that I did it even though my legs have been ACHING ever since Monday. I asked Sarah, who is the science teacher on my team, and also a fitness instructor, from which I used to take classes, pre-baby and pre-husband, ANYWAY, I asked her about my legs and why they hurt SO. Badly. She said that's good and the best thing I can do is go run tonight! So. I. Did. Pretty proud of it too! ...and I fully contribute all of my extra energy to THE. RUN-NANG. JEN-NAY!

On a side note, Camden has not adjusted to the time change. Either that, or he's being really clingly lately. He does not want to go to bed at 7 when it's time. Tonight, he went down at normal time, and I was not home 10 minutes before he was crying and carrying on. So, I went in, and he asked for more milk in his bottle, so I got him up and went into the kitchen to get that, him in one hand, milk in the other. Joe was going to try to put him down, but he didn't want to, he kept saying 'rock, rock, rock'... yes... he wanted me to rock him. (Which is what he did last night too.)... so, I did. And we talked and laughed, and I ended up crying because I can't believe how BIG!! HE IS GETTING!!! I started to get tear-y when he was babbling on, but what really caused the river was the silliest thing: He said "book", and I said: "Did Daddy read to you tonight?"... he said "Yes." I said "Did you read your new book 'No, David'?" ... He said "Yes." and then proceeded to TRY and tell me the PLOT of the story. He said (In his baby-talk way); "David Mess", and I said "yes, baby, David made a mess"... and then he said "David Run"... and I said "yes, baby, David ran out of the house naked"... and I said "Did David have to go to time out?"... he said "Yes. David broke" , I said "yes, baby, David broke his momma's vase." ... and so it went.

And so, no, I didn't marvel at the awesomeness of his connections.

I didn't puff my chest out and say how proud I was that he was so smart.

I sat there and cried.

Because he is growing up.

And I still can't find my camera charger.

And my legs really do hurt now, after day two.

Podcasts for Running

So, I found a new Podcast for Running... and it's called "Podcasts for Running". It incorporates the couch to 5K plan in nine-weeks. I heard about the concept on the Hip Tranquil Chick forums, did a search, found the podcast, and downloaded it today. I thought about starting it tomorrow, but then, I thought... well, there's no time like NOW! So... after Camden went to bed tonight, I got into some running gear and went out into the neighborhood. It was great! The best part about it? I could DO it! So... who's joining me? Go Subscribe to get them all.

Mary-- are you in?

Halloween- Playing Cranium :)
Originally uploaded by SunnyNole.
This is us. On Halloween. After Camden went to bed. Joe is taking the photo. The girls were over at our house for Camden's second Halloween. It was supposed to be a celebration, but ended up being a fit-fest, so we put him to bed. They went home to get out of their costumes (yes, costumes... hehe)... and into their PJs-- and to grab Cranium-- which is probably one of the most fun board games that we've ever played! :)

So... as you can see... me and Leslie (the one to the right of me) - washed our make up off, put our hair up and TRULY got comfortable. (T-shirt and PJ pants... no bra... mosturizer on, giving us that "glow"....)... and Christina (the one one the left of me) CHEATED. She always does. She has her make up on... her hair is still fixed cute... and so, once again, she is the PRETTY one in the photo. I swear she does this on purpose... LOL!

It's awesome having sisters-- and yet sometimes things are SO hard. My two sisters currently live with each other-- and so one is always coming over -- mad at the other. We never know which one will be showing up, but it's usually Leslie. Leslie and I lived together for a short while when she was just moving up for college and I was a first-year teacher. Living situations like that are tough! These two still fight, but they seem to be doing pretty good.

They are good about babysitting from time to time when we need it.... like a random night that we want to go out to dinner (which isn't very often, but at least we CAN sometimes...)... and the random day when Camden's daycare is closed on a random day that both Joe and I have to work-- (what's up with THAT?!!?!?!?)... They are always willing to pitch in to help with Camden.

They are still very young-- both in college-- but both are aspiring to be teachers-- and all I can tell them is CHANGE YOUR MAJOR~!!!!!!!

We have many, many sister stories. Maybe I should do a sister-story podcast. That would be a good one. We have lots of juicy crazyness that has happened. Yes. We. Do.

New Jacket

New Jacket, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Camden, modeling his new jacket for winter. He wore it for a few seconds and then started yelling "help, help, help!"... I look at this picture, and I see the little boy from the movie A Christmas Story. How hilarious! :)

It's been a lazy day, I went out with some friends after work yesterday, and didn't get in until late. Joe let me sleep until almost noon... and then Camden napped from 1-3, and I attempted to watch a movie on the couch, but ended up napping, too. It's now 6pm, and I'm about to clean the house and get caught up on a few projects that have been in the back of my mind this week.

Are you participating in the "Handmade Holidays" from Sew, Mama, Sew? I'm TRYING to... it's day three, so I have three things to make to get caught up. I've got my apron cut and ready to sew, but it's for an apron swap. I've been thinking that would be a good gift for my sister, too... she enjoys that sort of thing. I may skip the pincushion, although I would really like one for myself. :)
