Scone trays are cool, but scone trays about tea parties? Cooler. BUT Scone trays about tea parties and Alice? Grand! I have been eyeing it for quite some time, and it went on sale, so I finally bought it. (And of course it can be used for cookies or muffins, etc, too... but it's length is just Purrrrrfect for stacking scones... (which is _exactly_ what I did... , read on!)
...and what is a tray without something to fill it?:
So, I just *had* to make blueberry scones tonight. Oh and lemon scones, too:
...and then the taste test to see which ones came out better. They both were great!
So, then, I had to make 'scone cones' so we could GIVE AWAY the scones... because... in all reality, it's a *small* tray... so I only needed a few scones to fill it... and I made two batches, so I have a few to give away. (smile).
I've successfully done three days of self-portraits, which was this week's CMP prompt. What have I learned from them? I've learned that I need to do my hair and wear make up EVERYDAY! LOL!
In other news... the kid stole my Starbucks today!!!!!!
(you know you read this entire thing just to see what the "stolen starbucks" was all about...)
..and I'm _in love_ with the tray. I want to add the teapot, someday... when it's on sale!! LOL! Check out the punctualiTEA pot... perfect for an English Teacher! LOL! -- and you gotta love his sewing machine tea pot.. ! :)

I have been knitting lately. A little drawing and a little watercolor and a little swapbotting, but mostly knitting. Our weekend has been pretty laid back... a trip to Thomasville, Georgia yesterday (just 30 minutes up the road from us) to go to an awesome pet store where they let the birds fly free around the store... except when we got there they had already put the birds away in the cage. But we did see them in the cage. Camden loved them. Today, a morning trip to the park, a late breakfast and Camden has been napping for three hours!!! (A long time for him...) ...so, I've got some mail art done and I ordered yarn from knitpicks.com for more knitting projects!!! :)))

But I'm feeding my facination with sock-monkeys! I bought Camden some sock monkey sheets for the twin bed downstairs. They were on sale at Target in Panama City for $7! Yes SEVEN DOLLARS... so who could pass those up? I should have bought more than one set now that I'm looking back on it... because I still see these sheets in MY LOCAL TARGET for $30!!!!!!!! So, anyway, I found the sock monkey sheets and scooped them up so quick, and they are now on the twin bed downstairs that will (someday) become Camden's room and Camden's bed (I'm preparing early!)
And then yesterday, I'm in World Market just DROOLING over all of the stuff in there-- (that was my first time ever being in that store and now I'm hooked...)... and anyway, I hadn't PLANNED on buying anything, but this little guy literally JUMPED off of the shelf into my arms and DRAGGED me to the checkout counter. Yes. True Story! .... I didn't have a cart -because, yet I say again, I hadn't PLANNED on buying anything- , so I was holding this little guy, carrying him around the store like an infant. At one point a woman that worked there came up and asked me if I would like a basket. I was like "no". Then she gave me this strange look... and it was just SO funny!
Later, I picked Camden up from school, got him in his carseat, and then got in the car. I turned around in my seat, holding up the bag and said "I've got a special person in here that wants to meet you..."
...and he just grinned. (Probably not understanding me, but probably understanding me, because, as I've said before, my child is a genius!)... and so I danced the little zebra out of the shopping bag and the grin on Camden's face was enough to make me melt! It was soo cute, so I gave him a kiss and gave it to Camden and Camden kissed the zebra and hugged it and held it the entire way home.
That evening, we were coming down the stairs after Camden's bath and we saw the zebra laying on the floor in the living room. I said "Camden, look, there is your new zebra."... "What do you want to name it?"... and he immediately said "Boo Boo". (Now, i'm sure this was just baby babble... but I insist that Camden chose the PERFECT name for the zebra... because it fits.) So, this is Boo Boo the Zebra.
I went to my local yarn shop, picked up this nice yarn for myself and I've started this scarf from Knitty. -- It's going to look a little different because of the verigated yarn, but I'm LOVING the wavy swirly mock-cables. :) I can't wait to see it finished. We're going to the mountains as a family this Christmas and I will be wearing it there! :)
So the other evening Camden would NOT go to sleep, so I took him on a drive and we ended up at the park. Since there was not much to sketch I sketched this old Ford truck, and it was so much fun! It's not finished yet, so I need to finish it... and I will. Soon.

Beautiful Sky... driving down Interstate-10 with the camera hanging out the window. It's a beautiful day-- but can you believe it has been 98 and 100 degrees here?!!!
My husband made a "funny" about it feeling like Nick and Drew Lachey outside-- (98 Degrees...) ... and his older-women-co-workers didn't get it and just stared at him. Yes. That really happened. Then he explained and they laughed. A. Forced. Laugh.
So it's 10.12pm and I'm the only one up-- again. Joe and I got TCBY after Camden fell asleep and now, an hour and a half later, he's passed out too.
I guess I must go........... and turn in soon, too, so I'll be worth something tomorrow :)

We tried bottles.
We tried moving him into our bed. (the result, just kicking and tossing and turning.)
Joe fell down the stairs.
We all ended up downstairs in the guest bedroom, with Camden crawling from bed to bed....
And as a result I woke up today with a migrane. And nausea.
Camden went to school. I napped the day away.
(Now, feeling not very productive and my list of to-dos is a mile long.)
I'm hoping to get the house cleaned tomorrow, and Episode 2 of Halfway There completed. We will see.

...and as you can see from the note, their delivery was not successful. They called, they rang the door bell, they knocked. I did not hear. Camden and I were too busy dancing to Mya "My Love Is Like...Wo"... oh, and of course cleaning! LOL! (Did I mention that my baby boy is a heck of a dancer?!) ... and anyway, about ten minutes after they were looking for me, I went downstairs, noticed I had three missed calls from my sister and so I thought something was wrong.... and I called them back and they said I had a treat waiting outside... and boy did I! How cool! ...but my favorite was the note that they left... too funny! So, thanks GIRLS! That one made my day. It's the simple things...
So, did you know that a scorpion mama carries all of her babies on her back? Here's a photo to prove it.
So, I went to visit my dad yesterday and he found this in his yard-- so of course I had to take pictures of it!... and then I read about scorpions... and did you know that they give birth to live babies? And as each baby comes out, the mom puts her long tail down and the babies know exactly what to do: climb up the tail onto the mother's back. The mom carries the babies around for two to three weeks or until the babies first molt. --But sometimes, the mother scorpion turns into Mommy Dearest and decides that the babies are too much for her to carry and so she eats them! Yikes!

My mermaid ATCs have been completed and mailed out. This collage sort of shows my process. I started with my moleskine, drawing one "cartoon" mermaid and one "figurehead" mermaid... then I transferred those drawings onto small cards, and then colored them. I had originally planned to do fabric cards, but I had so much fun drawing these, that I decided to mail these out! They were mailed this morning, June 7.
This girl was so much fun to draw! I made her into an ATC which I will post as soon as I can get onto the upstairs computer again.
H pissed me off tonight because he is sick and needed to "go to bed" at like seven-- and then told me to wake him up at eight, and when I did, I hopped on the computer to do a few things, and he is laying there, sighing and tossing and turning, and _finally_ asks "how much longer are you going to be"... --and this is where I promptly sign off, hop up and head out -- if everyone in my house is sleeping at 8pm, shouldn't I leave, head to Starbucks and do something that I want to do? (Starbucks is 1/2 mile from my house... I could practically walk there, and yes, it smells like coffee outside my house if the wind is just right...) SO........Yes, I should... so out the door I went.
We had a nice time, me and my mermaids at Starbucks. *horrible grammar...* I finished my ATCs with this cartoon girl, which I'm sending to one partner, and then my single mermaid I'm sending to someone else. Then, I looked back at the fabric ATCs that I had made, and used them for an 80's-movie swap at Swap-Bot. *joined swap-bot yesterday, how cool is that place?* (Can you guess what movie?) -- Yes, Splash! I LOVE that movie! :) ...and the other TWO mermaid movies: The Little Mermaid and Mermaids. (Are there any others?)
Ok, so it's midnight and I'm off to dreamland, I'm going on a mini-road trip tomorrow with Camden so I need SLEEP... Luckily I have some great books on CD to listen to in the car-- Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm -- thanks to Amy's reference to me being _like_ her... - and Wicked -- that I have been hearing so much about and being a Wizard of Oz freak, I'm ready to read (er, listen...) [to] this! Hopefully, in the end, I'll be more like Rebecca of Sunnybrook and not like the Wicked Witch in Wicked. Although, after re-reading this post, I'm sure feeling witchy.

Way to go on a great first year, Amy! Episode 50 was awesome! :)
...and... here's a photo of my VERY FIRST ATCs!!!!
Seems like I continually encounter mermaids. The mermaid on the side of my Starbucks cup, the mermaids that pop up in stories and poems that I read, the mermaid painting that I drove by in May, on the side of an industrial building. ....so, Mermaids on the mind... and I'm continuing my Mermaid ATCs... i actually got out the watercolor pencils and tried a few "sketched" mermaids.. and I hated how they came out. So much so that I was even embarrassed to show Joe when he was looking through the ATCs I had sketched that day.
So, why am I so embarrassed by the awful sketches? Anyone else out there feel/act the same way? Ever have a page in your sketchbook that you just want to rip out?!!! I do. I'm actually planning something over one of the sketches that I tried to do for a CMP prompt "hidden". I was trying to do "hidden thoughts"... and it ended up looking like a cancer patient with a mis-shapen face! I wanted to knit that lady a dulan right away-- (which may be a cool idea for fixing it...) -- ah, how the mind works.
Anyway-- Just finished listening to the CMP 50th episode-- wow! It was so cool. I loved it in fact! :0)
Camden is at school today-- I'm working on reorganizing my computer cabinet in my bedroom-- that houses our DVDs and (somehow) became a dumping ground for everything you can imagine. So, this time, I took a "before" photo and I will take an "after" photo once it is done. It is _almost_ done... but it got really hot upstairs so I came downstairs to start on laundry (mount everest is upon me again!) -- and I haven't made my way back up to finish... but I will... so, if you like to see organized spaces, check back for a "before and after" post.
Now, I shall go and fold laundry, reload the washer and dryer, and watch Sylvia (the story of Sylvia Plath starring Gweneth Paltrow)-- which I rented from the library and haven't had a chance to get through yet!
Oh, and Mary asked me to post photos of the creative space/harry potter closet--- and I will--- just as soon as I get the shelf hung and all of my scrapbooking stuff organized on the shelf! :)))) Don't worry, it's COMING! :))))))))))

Today, we began with the Harry Potter closet. It was a mess. We took everything out and sorted it. We threw all of the stuff that was not "crafty" into the garage and had stacks of craft supplies all over the living room.
Our stacks: Quilting and Sewing, Fabric, Yarn, Knitting needles, Scissors, Tape, Glue, Scrapbooking Paper, Embellishments, ATC goods, Stamps, etc, etc, etc.
Then, we went to Target, spent about $100 on closet shelving and those really cool cube bins-- it took us awhile to get the cubed shelf put together-- we did that first, and got it in the closet. Then we went on a quest for the drill, and decided that we should let my husband put up the shelf... hmmmmmmmmmm -- I'll update on the shelf later.
Anyway-- the Harry Potter closet now houses my craft supplies... and it's FULL!
... so -- that's what I did today-- and I fully intended to take a before/after photo but-- I am really shy when it comes to showing a mess-- seriously stuff was falling OUT of the closet when you opened it...

Today, I worked with more of these little bugs on ATCs. While Camden napped, I finished reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom. A GREAT READ!!!! -- if you haven't read it yet, you HAVE TO! - I'm actually going to make my husband read this one!
So, it's Sunday. I love a lazy Sunday-- when the house is all cleaned and I have time to spend doing the things I love. That's what I LOVE about being OFF for the summer-- I have a perpetual clean house because there is TIME for that! J even made that comment today when I said something about how I love love love how clean the house is... he said "well that's what happens when you haven't worked in a week"... -- I didn't go into teaching for the summers off- but it sure is a great bonus! So, what's on the agenda for the rest of the day? Movies, Reading, Hanging out with Camden-- you know -- the fun stuff! ;0)

My mother in law (Anne) and brother in law (Dan) are here for a visit. When Joe, Camden and Dan get together, they are crazy-- and they have a good time. Yesterday, Camden and Dan went "swimming" in Camden's little pool.
Unfortunately, there was no room for Joe... so he and his mom walked around the yard a bit while Joe explained every little explicit detail of the projects that he has going on in the yard. I watched Camden and Dan in the pool while we listed to Dan's "Now that's what I call music" CD. He certainly loves his music! He and Camden were having fun, dancing and pouring water over their heads. Don't you just love their matching board shorts?!
This is what I'm currently reading:
I'm looking forward to starting Anne of Green Gables soon, thanks to Amy's mention of it-- and I have to admit, I've seen the movies and loved the movies-- but (sigh), never read the book! --I know that's awful for one who teaches English, but it's TRUE!
Ok, well I'm going to relax for a bit while everyone is quiet and napping because I'm sure it will only last about a half hour longer.
