Beach Day!

Beach Day Mosaic, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

We had a wonderful day at the beach this past Friday. It was Camden's first time at the beach and he loved every minute of it. I took great care of his sensitive skin and so he played all day in the sun with no burning. I, on the other hand, got burnt to a crisp because I was so worried about him I sort of forgot about myself! I just LOVE this series of photos, and plan to do SOMETHING with them. Not sure what yet.

The boy has been really really good lately. We had been having some very very trying times with him - the terrible twos as they say - but the last five days have been wonderful.

I've still been working a lot on the house. Nothing much creative going on besides a bit of knitting here and there. I have been trying to focus the majority of my energy on the house and the things that have been left undone throughout the past year. Playing catch up so to speak-- and I do have to say I'm doing a darn good job of it so far.

Melon Socks Complete 001

Melon Socks Complete 001, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Finished my melon socks... now working on cleaning out the garage today! It's amazing how much BABY STUFF we have in there from when Camden was a baby! We have everything we need for Ella and MORE! Holy Cow!

I came in for a bit to get some air. It's HOT out there. I've carved out a good pathway in the garage so I can keep working tomorrow. I think I'll start in the morning tomorrow~ after I get back from my doctor appointment... maybe it will still be cool out. :)

Knitting Bag Detail

Knitting Bag Detail

Here's an upclose photo of the knitting bag that I made to go with the needle case. They have both been put to good use already.

I now plan to take a little break from crafting for a bit until I get my house in order for the baby. I'm still going to be working on those socks (next class is Wed. and I should have them done then)... and I'm still doing the letterbox group, but today's scare has got me in gear to make sure every ounce of this house is organized before little Ella comes.

Last night and today I had a lot of cramping and discomfort. I waited a bit and then called my doctor who sent me immediately to the hospital to get checked. I spent a few hours there and was sent home - I'm only dialated one cm and the contractions are just Braxton Hicks contractions ........and some of the discomfort is due to the fact that I haven't gained much weight and the baby is getting bigger and there's really no where for her to go but OUT, so there's a lot of stretching going on. PLUS, I'm also chasing and lifting a two year old around and doing a lot of house stuff. Yes, I need to PACE myself, but I still need to get it all done. And so, it goes....

Made this today...

Knitting Needle Case, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Out of a placemat and a napkin. The bird was cut from a canvas napkin and appliqued on. Found the placemat for 1.98 and the napkin for 1.49 at Target. I already had all other supplies... so I made this knitting needle case for under $4.00! I also bought two more placemats and have a matching knitting bag planned. :)

Melon Socks Are Coming Along...

Melon Socks 003, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Thursday June 14 2008
Finished first sock except for the kitchener stitch on the toe- waiting to learn that one. In the meantime I’ve put it on to model it! I’m also using my awesome Denise kit as a stitch holder so I can use my needles to start on my 2nd sock. :)

Friday June 15 2008
Started on 2nd sock and am about 3 inches from the top, so still have a lot to do. I want to have the 2nd one done to this same point by Wednesday so I can finish this pair at the class and get more yarn to start new ones... Or maybe some little ones for Ella-- Although Camden would like for me to make him something so maybe I should make him a little pair first. I'll have to find some "boy" colored yarn! :)

Nature Calms

Nature BW, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

We spent the day at the Junior Museum today. It was amazing what a bit of nature could do for a crazy two year old. He really enjoyed seeing all the animals and watched them quietly. He had his share of running and jumping and playing, but if there was an animal in sight, he stopped and was instantly calm-- just watching. It was fun. We saw A LOT of animals, then went and had a picnic lunch and fed the ducks. We are BOTH tired now. :)

Ella's Secret Garden Nursery

We've been working on the nursery! Here is what we have so far. The bedding has red lady bugs with a pink and green background. The cribsheet has a lot of reds and maroons in it, and so although you can't see it, it really ties in well. Her nursery is not exclusively ladybugs but more of a garden theme-- I'm working around the whole "Secret Garden" idea. Still in progress, and we have a lot to do with the walls as far as pictures, etc. However, if she came tomorrow, we'd be ready! :) (we think)

Cupcake Fun

Cupcake Fun, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

Summer is here! Camden stayed home with me today. This is him after lunch enjoying a cupcake. I've been doing some light housework today and enjoying my little man. He will go to school tomorrow because it's "water day" and we have a big weekend ahead that I need to gear up for. Hope everyone is doing well!

Paying Attention

Paying Attention, originally uploaded by SunnyNole.

A few days ago I caught a glimpse of Camden with one of our wedding photos. He was holding it while sitting on the floor and he was really studying it. I was able to take a picture to capture the moment without him noticing. On the surface, it's a sweet photo, a really "Awwwww" type of moment.

However, as I pulled up the photo later to add it to my photostream, it really struck a chord with me. It was a symbol of much more than just an "awww, he's looking at our wedding photo" moment. It reminded me that he's watching us. He's watching us in every aspect of our lives-- how we interact and treat each other, how we show affection, what we base our morals and values on. He's watching. Everyday, he is learning how to treat a woman from his Daddy. Everyday, he is learning how he should allow himself to be treated by the way I treat his Daddy.

It was an eye-opener. Although our lives are simple, our marital sqabbles are common-- (Me: "take out the damn garbage!" Joe: -------------------------------*I have to add that I've just sat here for a full five minutes and can't think of a SINGLE thing that Joe gets on my case about.... and I don't dare make anything up because I know he reads this...LOL* ) But anyway, back to the point. Although our squabbles are common and are most of the time silly, this photo reminded me that no matter what I'm/we're mad about, he's watching. He's watching and learning. And that, all by itself, is a big reason to take more care in the way I approach things. Since this moment, I have taken a step back before I over-react about something, I have given my husband a few more hugs and kisses and I have seen our relationship not only for the beauty that is is, but for the example that it is.
