Our halloween started at Joe's office, where we got the kids dressed up and just hung out. Then, we came home for awhile and had dinner and got ready to go Trick or Treating. Camden completely enjoyed Trick or Treating. He especially loved knocking on people's doors and having LOOOONG conversations with them... explaining to them WHY he had to knock on their door (his words: "because, had to say trick or treat, and then, had to get some candy, and then... had to go to knock on your door and then say happy halloween.)... LOL. We were laughing our heads off at him... so cute. More pictures following this post.

When she's older, she won't believe our stories of how he tormented her so. Most of the photographs that we have of them together are just sweet. You can see the adoration in his face. He is delighted to be holding her. Even more delighted that she reached over and grabbed his hand. "I teach her to run," he always says. He wants to teach her many things, and reminds us every day.

She gave me the Haskew Girl look. The look when someone is trying to take your picture and you're irritated at them! She's saying "Enough with the pictures mom, I haven't even done my hair and make up this morning yet, so get that camera out of my face!"

Mary over at Flourishes made this dress for my little Ella. Isn't it just perfect? Seriously. It's in *our* favorite colors- pink and green- and of course the cutest fabric from Sandi Henderson's Farmer's Market line... the perfect dress for a little girl whose room is a "secret garden" right! :) I just can't wait for her to get big enough to wear it! :) Mary has some awesome things in her shop. I'm in love with the funky tunic in the pop garden!!! Thanks again Mary!!! :)

I finished the bedding set this morning. Now, I'm asking myself, "Why didn't I make Ella's bedding?!?!" I could have made an awesome secret garden set... Guess I was just too tired!!! LOL. Love this. Now, I have to figure out a creative way to package it up for gift giving...LOL.

I've been working on a Rocket Ship baby bedding set for the last three days. It is coming out awesome. I have to finish the quilt and then maybe add a few finishing touches and I'm done! If I have extra fabric I _may_ try the wall-hangings but I think I'll be content with just this set.

Worked on this one yesterday, experimenting with the monogram. Love the outcome. You can't see the back, but the back has a kimono-look for the closure of the pillowcase. The case is removable. I also was able to use my little SunnyNole boutique tags! Fun! Lots more to come... I've got so many projects to complete by December. I'm trying to get the smaller ones out of the way now!!
In other news, my wonderful husband has cleaned out the entire garage. He had been working on it for awhile. We bought a ladder from Craigslist and so now he is able to get up into the attic! So, we've got our Christmas stuff in the attic, which frees up wayyyyy more room in the garage. It is so awesome to have it all cleared out. Now, I need to go through my crafting closet and see what can be put up there...lol. I REALLY need to get that thing cleared out. I couldn't find my rotary cutter, so when I was working on some sewing, I had to use old fashioned scissors... and it just was not fun! LOL. I also can't find my cutting mat. I'd like to look for my other ones before I have to go buy another...

Hooray for custom orders! I have a custom order for an awesome pair of sock monkey sweet toez. I can't wait to get started on these.
Today was meal and grocery plan day and tomorrow is grocery shopping day. ...and I just remembered that Cam's daycare is closed tomorrow so I'll pretty much be going coo-coo with two kids and trying to grocery shop.
My sister stopped by today bubbling with excitement about her lesson plans and the class she is teaching. It made me want to go back to work _NOW_. -But then I look at Ella and I _SO_ don't want to leave her... but I really can't wait to get back to work! (Ever feel THAT torn between two things? LOL.)
Today has been a good day so far. I hope it will be an even better day when the mail arrives later on. I have some new fabrics coming my way and some plans for some awesome Christmas gifts. :)

Ella and I had fun making these shoes today! They are so yummy you almost want to eat them! I will have to modify the pattern for her for her next pair... These are a tad bit big - she's still just so small !!!! You can also get them in my etsy shop if you're interested.
Joe has a game tonight so it's just me and the kids at home. I think I may do something special for Camden if he had a good day- like McDonalds and the park... that way not only will he be fed with no mess and no clean up but he can burn off some of that energy and go home tired. With this idea, we all win. :)

So here's a little eye candy for ya. Isn't she a cutie? This is a little hat that my student Morgan knitted for her before she was born. Her head is finally large enough for her to wear it. It seemed so small when Morgan gave it to me... who would have thought that she'd have to "grow" into it? LOL. I saw Morgan's mom in the grocery store a few weeks ago. Morgan's sister was with her, but Morgan had decided to stay home. Her mom said she'd be "mad at herself for staying home..." that they ended up running into me was so funny! The kids are really missing me at school. It makes me feel good that I'm so needed and wanted and loved there, but it also makes me feel so uneasy about being gone. I have to make myself stay away, and make myself "not worry" about them. They are in GREAT hands, but I'm not there. Which leads me to how I will feel in November when I go back to work... Ella will be in GREAT hands... but I won't be there. I went in to talk to the little old ladies today at the church where Ella will be going. They thought she was so adoreable, and I assured them that she's a good baby- just like Camden was. Joe and I have worked it out so that she won't be at daycare long. If he takes them in a little later and I pick them up by 3 (on days that I don't have a meeting, which will be most days)... they will only be there for a few hours each day, which makes us feel so much better.
Creatively, I'm beginning a new adventure that I'm hoping to learn a lot from in the next few weeks. I will be able to talk about this more soon. Ella will be coming with me- thank goodness for the zolowrap- my favorite sling ever!!!

Anyway, Halloween Horror nights was cool. Back then.
Now that I'm a mom, it's AWFUL. The commercial alone is appalling. And if it's appalling to me, I can only imagine how others feel, because I consider myself a pretty laid-back mom. I'm not too uptight with what Camden watches as long as it's not violent or sexual. At two years old, his favorite movies include The Sandlot, Toy Story and Shrek. I also don't oppose Halloween. It's actually a lot of fun and our family enjoys the festivities. This is not a religious complaint by any means. I support Halloween Horror Nights and Universal Studios and their rights to cater to adult entertainment needs. However, I do have a problem with their ability to bring terrifying images into my home via FAMILY programming.
This commercial plays at all hours of the day on all channels that we watch including ABC Family, which is one of our favorite channels to watch since it offers re-runs of Gilmore Girls and other fun shows. Now, realize, Camden is not watching these shows, but he is in the room when they are on at 4pm and 5pm and 6pm... you know, the normal hours when a FAMILY would be together! We tried just watching other channels and found that this commercial is EVERYWHERE. This is NOT something that I EVER want my son to see. We already have trouble getting him to bed, do you think this would help? No. AND, the commerical scares the shit out of me, so I can only imagine how it must feel to a two year old.
Note: There are two versions of the commercial, one where she is painting her lips with blood and the other where she does not. Of course, the one shown in our area has to be the most bloody one!
So, I wrote ABC Family with my complaint of their distasteful advertising choices. I then proceeded to write Universal Studios and a quick search brought up all sorts of things. Moms in the Orlando Area have boycotted the awful and distasteful billboards. One mom wrote that her daughter was terrified by the billboards and is now drawing pictures of "Bloody Mary" in school. Further searching just made me mad because people were awfully insensitive toward parents and children. People made comments such as "moms need to get a life", and "don't drive that way anymore", etc. Really? There are 80 billboards in the Orlando area. Moms should be able to take their children wherever they need to go without having to avoid billboards. The comments about the article were pretty much almost as appalling as the billboards themselves.
If you live in the area, and would like to petition the billboards, go here.
Part of the petition is so true, it states "As an adult, I can look at this image and realize that it is not real and "just for fun" yet, how do I explain this to my three year old son? Our young children should not be exposed to these images." <-- AMEN-SISTA! So, I'm signing the billboard petition, and I'd like to find one about these AWFUL COMMERCIALS, but I haven't found one. So, Joe and I continue to distract Camden when we are watching a show and the commercial comes on. Or we turn the channel quickly. And we've stopped watching certain channels altogether because of the frequency of the ad. It's just not worth it.
Violence does not belong in our house.

Ella is a lovely model because she's always happy!
Here, she's sporting the sweater handknit by Omly. Thanks, Omly! What a warm and special gift! ...and the chocolate brown looks lovely with all of her PINK!
...do you see the little brown and aqua owl peeking out from inside the sweater?! That's "FB's Owl", a sunnynole SNAPz! ...and you can get it in my etsy shop, along with your customizable garment.
Camden:"what are you doing mama?"
Me: "cooking dinner"
Camden:"what are you making?"
Camden: "sweeeeet!!!!! i 'wike' spaghetti!"
Sweet? since when has my 2 year old become so cool? LOL!
...But there are lots of things C O M I N G S O O N! So, just keep that in mind! And of course, if you'd like to request a custom item, you can email me at SunnyNole (at) gmail (dot) com. Currently I'm working with awesome textiles from Alexander Henry. I've placed a logo on the sidebar and will make announcements there as to not take up my precious space here. (...and I have readers who could care less about this and are just visiting to see photos of my lovely children....*grandparents*, you know who you are!!)

Looked at the calendar today and I can't believe we're already in October! Where does the time go? Seriously. It seems like just yesterday that Camden and I made this trip to the beach.
And now it's October, and Ella is here, and it's almost time for me to go back to work. Very soon.
Wow. Time flies.
