Today we learned about Groundhog day that is coming up soon! We colored a groundhog day picture and cut him out and pasted him down along with his own shadow. We put a question mark on the shadow because we don't know if he will see his shadow or not. We had a day full of learning about groundhogs and groundhog day! We read groundhog day books and even went outside to find our OWN shadows. It was great fun!

I finished up a lovee for Miles. Now that my son cuddles with plain white cloth diapers that he calls his "burp rag", I feel the need to make a nice cuddling blanket for my friends who have babies... and I also feel the need to be sure I call it a Lovee. I have a Lovee for Ella in progress, but there are still a few fabrics that I need to buy to complete it. That's on my "list". I hope Miles Owen adores this lovee. It is backed with Organic Cotton in cornflower blue.

(Yes, Camden's face is in the cake, sampling it, because he just couldn't wait. Oh well, what is a Mommy's birthday without something like that?!) Hahah! It was a nice birthday -Joe and Camden baked me a cake this morning, Joe made me a lovely dinner, and my two boys got me awesome presents, and beautiful cards that made me cry.
Joe also took me out for a nice dinner "alone" on Friday night and my sisters watched Camden. (Ella attended our dinner because she simply cannot be left with anyone yet - according to her...lol, but she was quiet the whole time, so it was "like" we were alone.) - We had steak and crabcakes and portabello mushrooms in a parmesean cream sauce.
My sisters called and want to take me out to dinner sometime this week. My mom and dad sent a lovely card, and I'm LOVING the birthday gift that they sent me - my new bedroom suite, which was such a large gift it was also a birthday gift, which I'm utterly grateful for!!!! Joe took me to dinner, painted my new bedroom, bought my beach bedding, and sanded and refinished a piece of furniture to go with our new set from my parents. My grandma got me a cool cupcake baking book and gave me her beloved apple cookie jar that she and my grandpa bought many years ago in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. My Mother in law is making me a set of beautiful wooden shelves embellished with dainty blue flowers for my beach room. Joe and Camden and Ella got me a new set of bake ware that I really really wanted, and a gift card to my favorite store.
And now, with a manicure, a pedicure, and a glass of red wine, I'm off to enjoy my two favorite shows: Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
As if my day couldn't be any more perfect.
Thank you, Everyone, I love you.
Joe and I call Camden "Frankenstein" from the movie Big Daddy with Adam Sandler. He loves to dress up and will put on anything to play pretend. Here, he is a Space Ranger like Buzz Lightyear. He has a full Buzz Lightyear costume, but sometimes he just likes to wear the gloves. The back pack is supposedly attached to his nerf gun and supplies his lazer beams. Boy, he has an imagination. And he's dead serious that when he has this outfit on, he's a space ranger. LOL.
Ella got a new pooh bear high chair. She can't yet sit up in it, and she's still too small for it... but we went ahead and got it since she's eating rice cereal at night now. Also, it's a good spot to put her while mommy is cooking in the kitchen. Here, she is chewing on mommy's measuring spoons as mommy was making cheese quesadillas and taco salad for Saturday night dinner.

[Something was flicked into my eye]
Me- [clutching eye] OW!!
Me- My eye!
Camden- Your tic tac hurts?
and then, later...
[Changing Ella's diaper]
Me- Ella Bella you have a little red patch on your bottom.
Camden- It's red?
Camden- Let me go get the sour cream.
Just in case you didn't follow... tic tac = he meant to say contact, sour cream = he meant to say diaper cream... lol....
So, I checked out Deceptively Delicious from the library. It's a pretty cool book, but since Camden will eat most anything, including spinach and brussells sprouts, I didn't really have to apply the concepts of "hiding" veggies in meals. However, now that Dylan is staying with us, he is having a hard time eating his veggies at lunchtime... SO, I was able to apply a little of what I learned from Jessica Seinfeld... the pureed veggie trick!! Today, I added pureed squash to the shredded cheese in Camden and Dylan's quesadillas. It was a SUCCESS!!! They both loved them and couldn't even tell that it was 1/2 cheese, 1/2 squash! They were begging for more...lol. The reviews of this book on Amazon were not all that great, but I got a few pointers from it... so, check it out.. if you need to!

Today the boys had a blast. We learned that all God's animals eat and sleep and go potty and have a home.
We built houses for our animals out of our snack- whole wheat pretzel sticks and natural cheddar cheese slices.

My Beach bedroom is almost done. My lovely husband has been working around the clock for me. Besides a small paint spill that was quickly rectified, he has done a stellar job and I cannot WAIT to share photos. We are still working on accessories. After all, it's hard to find beachy decor in January - and it's hard to find beachy decor that's not CHEESY too by the way. No seashell baskets for the back of the toilet, no ma'am... we're talking beach RESORT, baby. :)
I'm working on an Advent Calendar for 2009 already! I am making 25 little stockings with the 25th one being a very special stocking, and they will all hang on this wooden dowell which I will paint. My friend Kacy and I have joined a group of women who have "always wanted to make an advent calendar but don't think about it until November"... LOL. So, we're getting a head start for next Christmas! We started today. This is about as far as I got... Since I've recently moved my sewing area, I haven't relocated all of my tools yet, and Dylan is napping in my room where all of my stuff is located, so I'll have to get that out tonight.
Camden and Dylan have been having a ball riding in Cammy's Escalade that Gee and Granddaddy bought him for Christmas. Cammy was so happy to have a playmate to ride in. They did really well taking turns driving. :)
Ella and I visited with Mandy and family on Saturday. Ella was in a bad mood the entire time, but we made it through.

I tend to take so many pictures of my kids that they both have given me this look at some point. But hey, a photographer with wonderful subjects to photograph! I can't help myself. :)
Ella turned five months old yesterday. In my haste to get Camden's activities posted, I completely forgot that.
Today was grocery plan and menu plan day, and I'm going to do grocery shopping this evening in an effort to go kidless. :) Oh, what fun! :)
Today we learned about the 5 Senses. We did a blindfold smell and taste game. Camden had so much fun. We also sang the 5-senses song and played a 5-senses game on the computer. We played tag in the house and a little bit of basketball (which I totally and completely suck at by the way... and Camden certainly informed me that he likes playing that game *better* with Daddy... LOL.)

Today, Camden asked for a VERY SPECIFIC breakfast... A banana, an apple without the skin, yogurt to dip his apple and banana in, and toast with butter. He learned all about healthy breakfasts yesterday on Sid the Science Kid (whom he TOTALLY LOVES by the way..)
Today, we read all about the moon. We read Papa, please get the moon for me by Eric Carle, in which a girl asks her dad to reach up and get the moon for her. We read Guess How Much I Love You about a rabbit family's love for each other and the ending line is "I love you to the moon, and back"... we read Goodnight Moon, where it is time to tell EVERYTHING goodnight, even the moon, We read By the light of the Silvery Moon (from Aunt Nina), about a beautiful moon lighting up a meadow for animals to play at night, and we read The Way Back Home - about a boy who gets stuck on the moon and meets a martian. We got down Camden's moon off of his wall and talked about the bumpy craters on it.

Today, it was REALLY cold outside, so, during Ella's LONG morning nap, our morning activity was centered around the idea of cold weather. We read The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and made our own "tracks in the snow" using salt as our "snow" and a cookie sheet to keep it not-so-messy. We made Peters footprints and tracks and then practiced drawing our letters. We sipped hot cocoa and ate granola bars. I read The Snowy Day like fifteen times for Camden (he loves that book). Then, we practiced our snow angels on the carpet. Camden can make a LOVELY snow angel. More pictures of our fun in the "snow" below.

My boys are painting my room today. Mom and Dad got us a lovely new bedroom set for Christmas, and Joe and Camden are hard at work painting the walls blue. We are actually copying their decor idea in their guest room - it's a beach room, and every time Joe and I stay in it, we are just in love, so we are doing that in our own room. :) The walls are going to be a lovely blue called Pool House. The bedding is called Ocean View from Kohls. We cannot wait to get it all put together!
I've been so busy lately I haven't been able to put up (or take) many pictures. We had to take a trip to Jacksonville to the Lexus dealership for a minor car issue, which was promptly and very easily fixed. I took Camden to the Jacksonville zoo while we were there. It was an impulsive trip, so I didn't bring my camera - otherwise there would have been a lot of awesome photos. We were able to ride the train (which Camden called the Polar Express). Camden fed a giraffe, and loved looking at and learning about all of the animals. We stayed the night with my grandma, who cooked breakfast for dinner, and Camden was just totally puzzled by that- he said "grandma, why you cook breakfast for dinner? it's not morning time"... LOL. He cracks. me. up.
Joe and I had a fantastic night out with some friends last night at Outback. Grandma was visiting her "fellow" over here in Tallahassee this weekend, so she kept Camden, and my sisters attempted to keep Ella, but miss Ella was not cooperative at all, and after about an hour of crying, they called for me to come get her. So, I had to leave the restaurant to go and get her, and my sisters felt so bad, but it was not their fault, Ella just couldn't be soothed. Then, I picked her up and she was okay. She did well for us at the restaurant, so I was still able to enjoy myself. The couple that we had dinner with are expecting their first baby, Evan, in a few weeks, so we talked a lot about babies! We stayed pretty late, and had a fabulous time.
Well I'm off to check on my painters, and get miss Ella down for her nap. We still have a lot of organizing to do, with the new room and Camden's room re-do. I will post pictures when we have something done. :)
This is the dress that I bought when I found out I was pregnant. At the time I had no idea if it was a boy or a girl, so I coined it a Hopeful Purchase. It certainly paid off. I'm delighted that Ella was able to wear it yesterday. She looked SO adoreable.
